London Perfume-Making Workshops: Compare Beginner Options
Atelier Rebul’s £100 Marylebone workshop includes a personalised 125ml perfume; 4160 Tuesdays’ £200 introductory afternoon offers a published afternoon timetable, but its take-home bottle volume needs checking.[1][2] Start with whether you want a particular bottle size, more scheduled experimentation time or a supported way to order your fragrance again.

Atelier Rebul vs 4160 Tuesdays: what does the price buy?
Atelier Rebul
- Session and guidance: Attendance is capped at eight participants; ask for the duration and how guidance is shared within the group.[1]
- Formula and reordering: Ask whether you receive the final formula, whether it is retained and whether repeat orders are supported.[1]
4160 Tuesdays
- Session and guidance: The introductory Saturday course runs from 1pm–5pm, potentially extending to 6pm; confirm the timetable for your selected session.[2]
- Take-home perfume: An attendee testimonial mentions leaving with a bottle, rather than establishing a package inclusion or bottle volume.[2]
- Formula and reordering: Ask whether a usable final formula is supplied or retained, and whether repeat orders are supported.[2]
Atelier Rebul’s £100 price also includes refreshments and light snacks. Its stated bottle size makes the take-home quantity clear, but you need the session duration to compare tuition time.[1] 4160 Tuesdays lists both its introductory afternoon and afternoon voucher at £200.[2] Neither price nor bottle size establishes how much individual attention you receive.
This comparison concerns 4160 Tuesdays’ hands-on introductory afternoon, not its separate five-day intensive for people with a serious interest in going further.[2] The page combines older course text with 2027 product listings: confirm the selected date and timetable rather than treating a product listing as an available place.[2]
Yougi: compare 90 minutes with two-and-a-half hours
Yougi’s two sessions differ in scheduled length and materials, not simply bottle size.[3]
Yougi standard workshop
- Session and guidance: A 90-minute workshop blending natural oils through top, heart and base notes.[3]
- Take-home perfume: Two 15ml perfumes, blended by you.[3]
- Formula and reordering: Ask whether you receive a final-formula record and can reorder the finished scent.[3]
Yougi masterclass
- Session and guidance: Two-and-a-half hours, with 30 oils and rare absolutes listed among the materials.[3]
- Take-home perfume: A 30ml atomiser.[3]
- Formula and reordering: A blending journal is included; check whether it records the finished formula and whether reordering is available.[3]
The standard workshop costs £59 and the masterclass £150.[3] Both list 30ml of take-home perfume in total, but the standard session splits it between two bottles; the masterclass adds an hour and a journal.[3] Choose between them on the session you want, rather than expecting the higher price to buy more perfume.
4160 Tuesdays’ £200 afternoon has a longer published timetable again.[2] That gives a useful time comparison, not a measure of individual blending time or teaching depth.
Virgin Experience Days also lists a 90-minute Yougi-hosted experience.[4] Check Virgin Experience Days’ package terms separately from Yougi’s direct listing: Virgin says its contracted partners hold public liability insurance and it holds contingency liability cover. Virgin says you are not liable for accidental equipment damage except where caused by recklessness or wilful negligence.[4]
A bottle, formula record and reorder service are different
EPC explicitly includes a formula and supports reordering; FirePetal includes a formula card, while Yougi’s masterclass includes a blending journal.[3][5][6] These are different offers if you want to wear the same scent after the first bottle runs out.
Experimental Perfume Club: Luxe Blending Experience
- Session and guidance: A private, one-to-one hour in the Perfumer’s Alcove.[5]
- Take-home perfume: A 50ml Eau de Parfum.[5]
- Formula and reordering: Your formula is included and preserved for later orders.[5]
FirePetal Studio
- FirePetal’s guided workshop lasts 90 minutes and gives access to 150+ fragrance oils, covering fragrance families, scent structure and how professional perfumes are created.[6]
- Take-home perfume: Wearable-perfume options are 10ml, 30ml, 50ml or 100ml.[6]
- FirePetal also includes a leather atomiser, gift packaging and a certificate; ask whether it can recreate and supply the finished blend.[6]
EPC can identify your formula through the code on your bottle or post-session email, or through your name and visit date. It says it recreates the original formula, hand-blends it in London and sends it to you.[5] Its cited page does not state the Luxe session price, reorder prices or minimum reorder quantities.[5]
FirePetal charges £49 for 10ml, £59 for 30ml, £69 for 50ml and £99 for 100ml. It says the session stays the same across these options: the price changes with bottle size, not tuition time.[6] Its separate £99 reed diffuser produces home fragrance rather than perfume to wear.[6]
A journal or formula card should not be treated as equivalent to EPC’s explicit service to retain and recreate a fragrance.[3][5][6] If repeat purchases matter most, price that service before deciding.
Check group format, dates and vouchers
For a private session, EPC Luxe is explicitly one-to-one. Atelier Rebul caps attendance at eight; FirePetal lists public sessions of 1–20 and private groups of 10–30.[1][5][6] Use these figures to choose the setting, rather than assuming they guarantee a particular level of attention.
- Atelier Rebul: Check availability on +44 7438 518292 or at [email protected]; sessions are arranged around your schedule.[1]
- 4160 Tuesdays: Existing bookers and voucher holders are directed to message about available dates.[2]
- EPC vouchers: Recipients have one year to choose a date and create their fragrance.[5]
- Virgin’s Yougi voucher: It is valid for 12 months from purchase, and both booking and attendance must fall before expiry. Virgin recommends booking at least four weeks ahead; places remain subject to availability.[4]
What to confirm with each provider before paying
Get the exact date, venue, start and finish times, final price and agreed inclusions in writing. Resolve these remaining questions:
- Session details: Ask Atelier Rebul for its duration and 4160 Tuesdays and Yougi for group sizes.[1][2][3]
- Keeping the scent: Confirm 4160 Tuesdays’ bottle inclusion and volume; ask Atelier Rebul, 4160 Tuesdays and Yougi about formula records and retention.[1][2][3]
- Repeat orders: Ask about repeat-order availability outside EPC, and obtain EPC’s session and reorder prices, reorder quantities and delivery costs.
- Changes and cancellation: Request cancellation, rescheduling and no-show deadlines, charges and refund options. Ask what happens if the provider cancels.
- Vouchers: Check excluded dates, extensions and transferability. Virgin’s About page says all its gifts are swappable[7], but does not publish detailed exchange conditions.[4]
- Suitability: Confirm minimum age, discuss ingredient sensitivities and explain access needs before booking.
Virgin describes its Yougi experience as adult-oriented, with a step-free studio entrance but one step to the bathroom; check access for the venue you will attend rather than applying those details to other workshops.[4]
