Make Your Wedding Rings in the UK: Compare Pair Quotes and Collection Dates
Start with your ceremony date and two specified bands
To choose a wedding ring workshop, compare the price and completion arrangements for two specified bands: Woodbridge charges £250 per couple plus ring materials, while Old Barn’s £350 couple package includes sterling-silver materials but charges extra for gold or platinum.[1][3] Neither headline fee alone tells you what your chosen pair will cost or when it will be ready.

Before requesting quotes, write down:
- Your dates: the ceremony date and the date you need both finished rings in your possession.
- Each band’s specification: ring size, metal and fineness, width, thickness, profile, finish, engraving and any stones.
Record the rings separately, even if they will match. Request a material charge for each, alongside tuition and finishing, so the second band does not disappear into a headline price.
Woodbridge requires a material and design consultation before giving a final ring price; Maya Magal quotes each ring after a design call. Old Barn discusses sizes and designs before quoting materials, while Silverkupe’s consultation covers width, shape, metal and size.[1][2][3][4]
Compare four workshops on pair cost, making route and completion
These packages have different starting points: Woodbridge adds materials to its couple fee; Old Barn includes sterling-silver materials; Silverkupe explicitly includes silver for two rings; and Maya Magal charges separately for the workshop and rings.[1][2][3][4]
Woodbridge Jewellery Workshop — Woodbridge
Pair-price basis: £250 per couple including VAT, plus materials for both rings. The fee includes tuition, exclusive workshop use, London Assay Office hallmarking, refreshments, homemade lunch and a celebratory glass of bubbly. Materials require a quote after consultation.[1]
Metal and making route: Choose yellow, white or rose gold, palladium or platinum. The provider describes supervised shaping, sawing, annealing, soldering, filing, polishing and applying the maker’s mark.[1]
Completion: Rings may be ready to take away that day, but those incorporating diamonds or engraving must stay for further finishing. Same-day collection is conditional, not a promise for every design.[1]
Old Barn Workshop — Frensham, Surrey
Pair-price basis: The three-hour experience is advertised at £350 per couple “+ materials”, but sterling-silver materials are explicitly included. Other precious metals receive a personalised quote based on size, design and final weight.[3]
Metal and making route: Options are sterling silver, 9ct or 18ct yellow or white gold made during the workshop, or a silver design subsequently moulded and professionally cast in platinum. Participants learn to measure, shape, solder, texture and hand-finish, making their own or each other’s band.[3]
Completion: Professional hallmarking and finishing can follow the session. The provider requires at least two weeks’ notice to source materials and prepare the workshop; this is preparation time, not a finished-ring delivery promise.[3]
Silverkupe — Ouseburn, Newcastle
Pair-price basis: £350 covers private tuition, tools, consultation, lunch and sterling silver for two rings. EcoSilver increases the package to £385; gold costs extra, with the total invoiced after consultation.[4]
Metal and making route: This private, supervised ring-making day offers sterling silver, EcoSilver or quoted 100% recycled gold. It runs approximately 10am–4pm, including a one-hour lunch.[4]
Completion: Rings stay for hallmarking and details such as engraving, taking one week to one month before collection notification. Silverkupe asks couples to hold the workshop at least six months before the wedding, while offering to try to accommodate shorter notice.[4]
Maya Magal — Coal Drops Yard, London
Pair-price basis: £395 buys a private two-hour workshop for two; rings cost extra and are individually quoted. Published starting figures are £500 for 9ct gold and £1,000 for 18ct, but the page does not clearly identify whether these apply to one ring or a pair. Do not use them as a pair estimate.[2]
Metal and making route: Bands are solid white, rose or yellow gold, with supervised forging, shaping, soldering, cleaning and polishing. Silver and platinum are excluded from these workshops; complimentary engraving options are included.[2]
Completion: Rings are shipped within 2–3 weeks after the workshop using the provider’s Next Day Delivery service, rather than taken home after the session.[2]
Woodbridge’s lower session fee does not establish a lower finished-pair total. Compare written quotes for the same two specifications, rather than adding a precious-metal estimate to these different packages.[1][2][3][4]
Choosing platinum? Separate bench work from professional finishing
At Old Barn, you make the design in silver; professional moulding and casting in platinum follow. You are not personally forging the finished platinum rings.[3] Maya Magal excludes platinum because, it explains, the specialist tools and techniques are unsuitable for its beginner classes.[2]
Woodbridge lists platinum alongside its supervised making processes.[1] Ask which stages you would perform in the final metal, and which the jeweller would complete.
For any platinum quote, separate the metal you handle from the metal you receive. Ask for casting, finishing and hallmarking to be itemised where applicable, with each stage included in the completion timetable. Apply the same distinction to engraving and stones: Woodbridge retains rings needing diamonds or engraving, while Silverkupe completes details such as engraving after the workshop.[1][4]
Work backwards from receiving both rings
Keep three milestones separate: securing the workshop slot, having materials ready, and receiving the finished pair.
Silverkupe orders metal approximately four weeks before the session and then allows one week to one month afterwards for hallmarking and details.[4] Old Barn’s minimum two weeks’ notice concerns preparation before the workshop.[3] Neither interval should be substituted for the other when planning your deadline.
At Maya Magal, “Next Day Delivery” describes the shipping service, not the time needed to complete the rings: the stated arrangement is shipment within 2–3 weeks after the workshop.[2] At Woodbridge, same-day collection remains subject to the design and finishing requirements.[1]
Request a written commitment for both completed bands, accounting for any casting, hallmarking, engraving and fitting. Specify collection or delivery, and ask how a delay or size adjustment would affect the agreed date. A workshop booking is not the same as confirmation of a finished-pair collection date.
What to confirm with each provider
The cited pages for Woodbridge, Maya Magal, Old Barn and Silverkupe do not state finished-size guarantees, post-hallmark fitting appointments or free resizing terms.[1][2][3][4] Before paying, ask:
- Size approval: who measures each finger, when you approve the size, and until what stage you can change it.
- Adjustments: the charge and timetable for changes before materials are ordered, after making or after hallmarking.
- Final fitting: whether you can try both completed bands with time to resolve problems before the ceremony.
- Finishing and deadline: Old Barn’s finished-ring turnaround and any hallmarking or finishing charges; Woodbridge’s collection date if further work is needed.[1][3]
- Hallmarking: Maya Magal’s arrangements for your quoted pair.[2]
- Cancellation: Woodbridge, Maya Magal and Old Barn’s cancellation and postponement terms.[1][2][3]
Hallmarking arrangements are not interchangeable: Woodbridge includes London Assay Office hallmarking; Old Barn says rings can be sent for professional hallmarking and finishing; Silverkupe retains them for hallmarking and details.[1][3][4] Ask how a proposed resize would affect your particular rings’ finishing, hallmarking and collection plan.
Get the pair quote and payment terms in writing
Maya Magal takes a 50% deposit after consultation and quotation to secure the metal and final design.[2] Silverkupe takes £100 after consultation to secure the date, with the balance due four weeks before the workshop.[4]
Silverkupe offers a full refund or date change for cancellation four weeks in advance; at two weeks or less, it offers alternative dates but no refund. Ask it to clarify the intervening period. If its instructor cancels through illness or similar circumstances, attendees receive an alternative date or full refund.[4]
Use this request to bring the price, fit and deadline into one document:
Please quote for both finished wedding bands, itemising:
- Each ring: agreed size, metal, profile, width, thickness, texture and finish.
- Costs: couple tuition; each ring’s materials; casting or professional finishing; hallmarking; engraving or stones; resizing; postage; and whether VAT is included.
- Responsibilities: what we make and what the jeweller completes.
- Fit terms: how size changes before or after the workshop affect charges and completion.
- Payment: total payable, deposit and balance dates, quote validity, cancellation and postponement terms.
- Deadline: the agreed date both finished, correctly sized rings will be in our possession before our ceremony on [date].
Please mark included items as “included” and identify any remaining variable charges.
Shortlist Old Barn or Silverkupe for included sterling silver; investigate Old Barn for its silver-to-platinum casting route, Woodbridge for conditional same-day collection, or Maya Magal for its two-hour gold-making workshop.[1][2][3][4] Choose once the written pair total, fit terms and possession date work together.
